Our Culture

All the elements recorded in our School Profile are parts of the whole which contribute to the culture which is becoming evident at our school. We are driven in our efforts to establish a culture for the children in our care which is immersed in the Gospel values and which clearly demonstrates how our relationship with others allows us to express our Faith in God.

The culture established at Holy Cross is;

  • where the children always feel safe and secure;

  • where we build a complete picture of each child so we fully understand what best assists their learning;

  • where all are welcomed;

  • where children, teachers and parents are accepting of each other and celebrate the gifts of all;

  • where the relationship between parent and teacher is one of trust and creates the best possible working partnership between teacher and parents so the children will gain full benefit from their schooling;

  • where that partnership between teacher and parent models all the best attributes of any working relationship we could wish our children to see;

  • where teachers recognise that children who have difficulties are the challenges we should embrace, not the problems one would wish would never occur;

  • where the professionalism of the teacher is respected and that respect is earned through constant appraisal of endeavours and a willingness to create the best possible learning environment for all;

  • where teamwork and support of all who work at Holy Cross is not only valued but also visible;

  • where the views of parents are heard and valued;

  • where all achievements are celebrated;

  • where there is an element of humour in all our endeavours but being certain that the humour is not at the expense of another's self-esteem;

  • where the school is seen as part of the Parish, creating an environment that allows members of the community to renew their faith and others the chance to embrace Catholicism;

  • where the community's role in the Parish Sacramental program is central and essential for it to succeed and the school's resources, both physical and material, are always available;

  • where the acceptance of others' differences is always expected and embraced;

This list should and must grow as we strive to create the culture which truly models the Catholic School we wish Holy Cross to become.
